Edson Briggs focuses his civil trial practice on representing property insurance policyholders when their insurers deny, underpay or unduly delay their claims. He helps guide clients, including individuals, associations and businesses through all phases of the sometimes bewildering claim process, from presuit claims investigation to alternative dispute procedures like appraisal, mediation and arbitration, through litigation in state and federal courts. He also has experience in and represents clients in the areas of construction defect, title insurance, real estate and other general commercial litigation. Edson has been awarded the status of AV® Preeminent™, by Martindale-Hubbell the highest rating for legal ability and ethics, based on a survey of peers and the judiciary before whom he practices.

Born in Washington, D.C., Edson grew up in South Florida after his family moved there in 1972. After graduating from law school, Edson served a four year tour on active duty as a Captain in the United States Army Military Intelligence Corps, during most of which he was stationed in Panama with United States Southern Command. There, he assisted with antiterrorist, anti-money laundering, counter narcotics and humanitarian missons throughout Central and South America. After being honorably discharged from the Army in 1997 he entered the private practice of law, and now lives in Miami with his wife and two sons, and he enjoys racing marathons and triathlons. Having studied in Spain and lived in Panama for four years, Edson is fluent in Spanish and has represented Spanish-speaking clients with limited or no English skills who find themselves a party to lawsuits in the courts of Florida or the United States.
